SERVICES
Our dedicated and accredited expertise makes Microbiome your first choice for microbiological consultation and testing. We strive to provide you with the highest quality testing with accurate results. Microbiome is your project partner.
Testing
Testing is crucial to assure the quality of your product to your customers. It gives your customer the confidence and reliability to your product quality. Testing can also reduce the cost of batch (lot) rejection as a result of microbial contamination, as part of regular testing.
Microbiome can go beyond its scope of testing. Depending on the needs of the customer, the testing regime can be tailored according to customers product(s) vulnerability and manufacturing specification. Below are just some of the tests offered:
- Routine testing of products to establish microbiological safety
- Microbiological shelf-life testing
- Sterility testing
- Air quality and environmental survey
- Antimicrobial effectiveness (challenge test)
- Biocide and disinfectant efficacy testing
- Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) testing
- Zone of Inhibition (sensitivity test)

Monitoring
Microbiological aspects of product safety are of prime importance in many industries. In case of a contamination incident, an enterprise faces substantial losses as a result of the need to destroy the affected product lot (batch). The contamination usually originates from the raw material or from the biofilm formed inside the production lines or water purification supply system.
Microbiome provides a microbe monitoring service to help prevent this type of contamination from occurring. Monitoring helps us identify the reservoir or potential source of contamination, and enables us to devise the ideal biocide/disinfectant programme.
All production stages are strictly monitored by us.
- Biocide programmes
- Effluent, waste, borehole, and potable water
- Environmental
- Hygiene
- Raw materials and finished products
Quantitative and Qualitative Identification
We do a thorough and quantitative assessment of aerobic and anaerobic bacterial contamination as well as a yeast and mould count.
Some processes can operate very well at certain levels of microbial contamination, levels that are considered acceptable (i.e. scant, mild, substantial, or excessive). A quantitative and qualitative assessment gives an idea if your control applications can achieve acceptable levels at your current dosage of biocide/disinfectant.
- Bacillus sp.
- Campylobacter
- Clostridia sp.
- Enterobacteriaceae
- Fungi and mould
- Lactic acid bacteria
- Legionella sp.
- Listeria sp.
- Pseudomonas sp.
- Salmonella / Shigella
- Staphylococcus sp.
- Sulphite Reducing Bacteria
- Total Coliforms / E. coli
- Vibrio sp.

Biocide and Disinfectant Application
Microbiome will select the appropriate biocide/disinfectant programme for your business. This helps reduce unnecessary high costs of running programmes not suitable to your system. Products and processes are vulnerable to microorganisms, making a biocide programme invaluable. Biocide and disinfectant application in the process line can prevent contamination of the final product and help ensure the safety of the end user.
Through regular monitoring, we will focus applications at vulnerable points and save on application costs. Efficacy testing will establish if the microorganisms are resistance to the programme.
There is no bias in our test data because we do not sell or supply any biocide or disinfectant product.
We strive to offer our clients custom and comprehensive services.
